Ardor, it seems, cannot be pixelated: despite the e-volution of correspondence, paper Valentine’s Day cards are still in style. “Because of technological advances the number of elite letterpress card companies is going through the roof,” said Melanie Nerenberg, the marketing director at Kate’s Paperie, the New York paper shops chain, “as is the number of customers who want and appreciate them.” Last February the company sold 22,000 cards, compared with 14,000 in February 2004. Numbers aside, Ms. Nerenberg said, “An e-valentine is the death of romance.” Below are a dozen ways to keep love alive.
